Kuwait and the Philippines have reached an agreement to restart the recruitment of Filipino workers for employment in Kuwait, according to a report from Wego. This decision follows a bilateral meeting held on June 23, 2024, at Seif Palace, led by Sheikh Fahad Youssef Saud Al-Sabah, Kuwait’s First Deputy Prime Minister, and Bernard Olalia, Deputy Minister of Migrant Workers for the Philippines.
The meeting concluded with Kuwait lifting its previous ban on Filipino workers, thereby allowing the issuance of entry and work visas for all Filipino nationals. This significant decision aims to streamline and expedite the recruitment process for Filipinos seeking employment opportunities in Kuwait, marking a crucial milestone in restoring normalcy in labor relations between the two countries.
Additionally, the agreement includes provisions for recruiting skilled Filipino domestic workers with prior experience abroad. This provision directly addresses Kuwait’s ongoing demand for proficient household assistance, ensuring that Kuwaiti households can benefit from trained and experienced Filipino workers who can meet their specific needs.
